Hello, I'm Luzi, a Brazilian living in Budapest, Hungary since 2017 and since I'm here I reconnected to an old childhood dream: to become a filmmaker.

I've written few scripts and even got some prizes with one of them, but that's still a big project to work on in the future.

With "By the Cover" I'd like to start understanding better the fascinating world of cinema and get experience for my bigger projects.

I'll work with amateur actors and a college student to bring this short movie to life. We'll use the money to invest in the equipment and professional editing.

In an office kitchen, Luzi, a black girl is having her breakfast when a colleague comes speaking Hungarian on the phone. She only observes. He spills coffee and asks for a paper towel in English, guessing she wouldn't speak Hungarian. As she replies in Hungarian he's surprised. Later on another colleague comes and she speaks Hungarian to him to which he replies in English. Thinking his reaction is to her accent, she insists in distress. Before he can answer another lady joins speaking German and she realizes she was "judging by the cover" just as it had happened to her moments before.

Those who work in an international environment can relate to that easily. This happened to me several times, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been mislead by appearances and by judging "by the cover".
