Description
Help Bíborká, step by step!
Hi everyone!
Bíborka is a very active, chatty, smiling 3-year-old girl who was born prematurely, which led to her developing cerebral palsy. She is currently unable to stand or walk unaided; she has no sense of balance and uses a mobility aid to get around.
Yet Bíborka is a little fighter.
A year ago, she couldn’t even sit up, but now she can push herself into a sitting position, sit steadily and take steps whilst holding on to something. She practises a lot; she is persistent, strong and has incredible willpower. She often tells me that once she’s learnt to walk, she’ll teach others to do the same. I’d like to make that promise a reality for her.
What am I raising funds for?
I’d like to starta comprehensive intensive development programme for Bíborka. This covers several areas at once: conductive education, somatopaedagogy, physiotherapy and comprehensive special educational support. We’ll be attending the therapy sessions in both Budapest and Békéscsaba, as this will give Bíborka access to the widest range of specialists and methods.
The specialists are confident that, as she has grown much stronger and her posture has improved significantly recently, if she responds well to intensive development, she may even learn to stand unaided. This would be a huge step forward for her and for us.
Alongside her therapy , we’d like to create a suitable space at home for Bíborka to practise every day. To this end, we’d like to purchase equipment such as a wall bar, a handrail for learning to walk, a Rota Hugger and TSMT equipment. That way, her development won’t stop after her therapy sessions, but can continue every day at home in a safe environment.
Why now?
Bíborka is growing quickly, and her muscles need to keep pace with her. The sooner she begins intensive development, the greater the chance that her progress will be well-founded and lasting.
*(I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed in any way so far; the home equipment has been set up, and the intensive development programme was launched thanks to a donation from outside this page, so I have reduced the fundraising target by this amount)
As a single mum, I’ll do everything I can for Bíborká and her older brother, Luca. My family is there for me, but this expense is too much for me to bear alone or within our immediate family. That’s why I’m now asking the wider community for help.
