We are two women, Ildi and Gabi, who have been together for 6 years and live in Hungary. We want to have a child together, but Hungary's legal system makes this impossible for us — so we're turning to a private clinic in Austria. In return for every donation, we're offering hand-made linocut prints as a thank-you.

We've been together for 6 years, and we've reached the point in our lives where we want to raise a child together.

"Quiet Togetherness"

This isn't a simple path in Hungary for two people who love each other outside the "traditional" mold. We can't marry, we can't adopt jointly, and we don't have access to donor insemination or IVF either — in Hungary, these options are currently limited to heterosexual couples, or in some cases, single women.

That's why we're turning to a private fertility clinic in Austria, where same-sex couples can access donor insemination and IVF. This comes with a real financial burden: a full attempt — from the initial consultation through donor sperm, treatment, and travel — realistically costs somewhere between €15,000 and €20,000. Living on Hungarian salaries, which lag far behind the Western European average, we simply can't cover this alone.

We know it's a lot to ask. But every contribution, however small, brings us closer to our goal, and we're deeply grateful to anyone who stands with us.

We also know we're not alone in this. Over the past years, we've seen again and again how strongly the Hungarian queer community shows up for each other — last year, despite the government's ban, record numbers turned out for Pride, many from other countries, standing side by side. We believe that same solidarity will carry us through this too.

Gabi is passionate about linocut printmaking, and made several new pieces specifically for this project. We didn't want this to be a one-way ask: we wanted to give something back to every supporter — a piece of what we love to create, in exchange for what you're helping us build.
