Kairos, 1234 A.D.. A noblewoman from the lineage of the family that leads the country is about to get married. Kaira daydreams of her beloved Ergaleio, a young follower of the Pegasi congregation. A love reciprocated but hindered by obstacles. Pater Familias and Soteria, the promised spouse, discussing the final details of a contract. 16th Century. The sweet song of a woman entertains the customers of an old inn. Arika lives alone with her old mother, now too tired to work. They both live at Lile`s inn, a woman with an obscure past. A boy is working at the inn. It is Neil, the handyman. Francesco Moro, a man of the Holy Inquisition, arrives in town. He has been commissioned by the Roman Church to initiate a series of trials for heretics, witches and owners of command books.
