Hello! My name is Mike and I’m from Vienna. It might be hard to believe, but my life has changed completely since the divorce – in ways I could never have imagined. I never thought I’d end up in a situation like this, but here I am, and it feels as though the ground is constantly shifting beneath my feet.

Since the divorce, I’ve had to pay child maintenance for my three children – they’re aged 3, 5 and 7 – which accounts for almost 50 per cent of my salary. This financial burden is taking its toll on me and constantly pushing me to my limits. Despite my best efforts, it remains difficult to cope with day-to-day life. Bills go unpaid or are paid late, which unfortunately often leads to reminders and additional late payment charges. It’s a vicious circle that’s taking an increasing toll on me, and in the long run, it’s simply not financially sustainable.

The help I receive through donations is used exclusively to settle outstanding bills. This is a huge help to me in regaining some control over my life and getting it back on track. It’s not easy to open up and ask for help in a situation like this, but I know it helps me to find my way back, step by step, to a more stable future.
