Description
For over 10 years, Arcigay Ferrara’s “Gli Occhiali d’Oro” centre has been much more than just four walls: it is our city’s hub for LGBTQIA+ people. It is a hub for socialising, activism and the defence of rights in the local area; a place where people can feel welcomed, safe and free to be themselves, in a historical context where, sadly, incidents of hate, discrimination and violence are still a daily occurrence.
Today, to keep this beating heart of the community alive, we need you.
Keeping a venue open to everyone involves ongoing running costs: rent, utilities and maintenance. With this fundraising campaign, we’re asking for your valuable contribution to ensure the space’s sustainability and day-to-day running – and, consequently, all the free activities that take place there.
What will the funds be used for?
Every single donation will go directly towards supporting our centre and its services
• Youth services and community centre: A safe space for socialising, where people can meet, share experiences and grow together, free from judgement and prejudice;
• Initial Support Service: A listening and guidance service aimed at LGBTQIA+ people, as well as their family members and friends, so that no one is left alone during times of transition or difficulty;
• Health Checkpoint: A vital information and prevention service for the local area, dedicated to raising awareness of and combating sexually transmitted infections (STIs);
• Cultural and Documentation Centre: A hub for historical memory, education and the promotion of an inclusive culture in Ferrara.
A recognised bastion of freedom in the region
Arcigay Ferrara is not just a local association: for years we have been recognised as a regional hub in the fight against discrimination and we are proud to host the UNAR (National Office against Racial Discrimination) LGBT+ Anti-Discrimination Centre, providing practical legal, psychological and personal support services.
All this is only possible if our centre remains open, active and accessible.
How can you make a difference?
1. Donate what you can: Even the cost of a coffee or an aperitif, when combined with that of many others, becomes vital energy for our projects.
2. Share this campaign: Help spread the word. Share the link on your social media, in WhatsApp chats and talk about it with those around you.
Solidarity is our strongest response to indifference. Help us ensure that Ferrara continues to have a
safe, inclusive and proud space.
Thank you so much for your support!
