Description
Ukrainian 26th Artillery Brigade Needs a Pickup Truck for Frontline Operations
The 26th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), named after Major General Roman Dashkevych, is currently engaged in combat operations in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. The unit urgently needs a vehicle (a pickup truck) to carry out its military duties. Having this vehicle will allow for the efficient transport of personnel, ammunition, and essential supplies to operational areas, which will directly impact the effectiveness of their frontline tasks.
The funds raised will be used to purchase a reliable, well-functioning pickup truck of any brand, as well as high-capacity power banks for the brigade's soldiers. We initiated this fundraiser in response to a request from Serhii, a member of the Open Culture Foundation who is serving with the 26th Artillery Brigade and has observed these pressing, real-world needs.
The 26th Artillery Brigade is part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its home base is in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr Oblast. The brigade is part of the "North"
Operational Command. In late February 2014, Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine began with the invasion of Crimea. Since mid-March 2014, subunits of the brigade have been deployed to the Crimean region. During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war since 2022, the 26th Brigade has participated in the Battle of Bakhmut and the Battle of Chasiv Yar, among others.
On May 22, 2022, the brigade was awarded the honorary distinction "For Courage and Bravery." Its motto is Ultima ratio.
We will document the outcome of this initiative on our website, www.openculture.org.pl, and on the foundation's Facebook profile.
The war won't end without you!
From a previous, suspended fundraiser for cat food in Kurakhove, we have 230 PLN remaining, which we are now contributing to the 26th Brigade. We had to suspend that collection because the front line reached Kurakhove, and the caretaker, along with the cats, was evacuated.
Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, we have been actively supporting the people of Ukraine. Previously, in collaboration with PEN Club Ukraine and with the support of PEN Club Belarus, we managed to raise 350,000 PLN for Ukrainian cultural creators. These funds were used for aid scholarships for Ukrainian writers, translators, journalists, and cultural workers.
