Dear friends,

Thank you for your unwavering support of Alaa, Montasir, Hanan, Ahmad, and Lana. The situation in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels of suffering, with every passing day bringing new horrors. There is a complete absence of food, medicine, clean water, and basic facilities. The biting cold of winter has now descended, intensifying the misery. Amid this, the relentless bombing and loss of innocent lives continue, casting a dark shadow over any sense of normalcy or safety.

For Alaa and her family, this is a fight for survival in the face of what often feels like insurmountable despair. Yet, through all the hardship, this fundraiser and the love and solidarity of this community have been a vital lifeline of hope.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, we have raised an astounding 12,500 EUR, and there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. We’ve received word that the Rafah crossing may open soon, offering a rare and fleeting chance for escape. This could mean life instead of death, safety instead of fear—but we must act urgently.

To seize this opportunity and ensure the family has the resources to cross the border and find safety, we’ve adjusted our fundraising goal to 20,000 EUR. This is a critical moment. Every additional euro can make the difference between hope and despair.

We suggest a donation of 60/120 EUR (or whatever you can contribute) to help Alaa and her family take this desperately needed step toward safety and a future.

'HOPE and other Four-letter Words' is an online fundraiser for Alaa (28) & Montasir (35) & their children Hanan (9) & Ahmad (7) & Lana (5). They are a beautiful family of five from Gaza, who have experienced unimaginable horrors over the past ten months. We are getting together as a community to raise funds and help them escape and start a new life.

Who is this fundraiser for? Alaa (28) & Montasir (35) & their children Hanan (9) & Ahmad (7) & Lana (5). They are a beautiful family of five from Gaza, who have experienced unimaginable horrors over the past ten months. We are getting together as a community to raise funds and help them escape and start a new life.

Who is behind this fundraiser? Jeanette Gunnarsson initiates this Fundraiser, in the hopes of helping Alaa and her family to have enough funds to escape Gaza and start a new life. Any additional funds will be used to help extended family members escape from Gaza and start a new life.

What will the raised money be used for?

All raised funds will go to aid the following expenses:

* 29 400 € for Permits and Crossing: expenses for evacuating Gaza through the Rafah-Egypt border will come to 5900 Euros per person.

* 5900 € for transaction costs and international transfer fees

* 7600 Euros Estimated cost for living expenses for the first 6 months

(Food, shelter, clothes and any other necessities we might need)

30 € a week in medical expenses for Montasir
