Description
Did you know that 50% of the world’s population lives on the coast, yet we’re facing a global crisis of water and fertile soil shortages? It’s madness: we’re suffering from thirst and a lack of arable land right next to an infinite source, the ocean. 🌍💧
Current desalination plants consume huge amounts of energy and discharge toxic waste into the sea. We believe there is a more natural and intelligent way of doing things.
🚀 What is Eden Blue? We are creating a floating, 100% autonomous platform to produce pure water and food at sea through a perfect zero-waste cycle:
1️⃣ Water from the sun: We distil seawater using only solar energy, without an electricity grid.
2️⃣ Soil-free farming: That water irrigates hydroponic gardens that nourish themselves thanks to a ‘living soil’ containing beneficial bacteria.
3️⃣ Waste to resource: The leftover brine isn’t dumped into the sea; we use it to cultivate microalgae, transforming a pollutant into high-value bioproducts.
As well as revolutionising agriculture, Eden Blue will be used to deliver emergency water and food following natural disasters.
👥 Who are we? We are 20 engineering, biotechnology and business students from the UPV. All our scientific and physical research has already been 100% validated in the laboratory; we have the support of our university and have won the Young Science Talent Award.
🎯 Why do we need your help? It’s a long way from theory to reality. All our work is voluntary, but we need funds to:
- 🛠️ Buy materials, tubing and sensors to build the first physical prototype.
- 🔬 Purchase laboratory supplies to continue optimising the crops.
- ⚓ Test the system in water in a real-world environment.
Every euro brings us closer to the solution. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign helps us enormously!
👉 Make Eden Blue a reality!💙
