What will you fundraise for today?
Description
From the beginning of the world human have been created freely. History shows the various aspects of slavery now a days according to the civilized world slavery is being banished from this world. There are so many professions in this world. Brick making might be consider a profession but it doesn’t need any kind of training so many people use to adopt this. The company leaders use to buy even families for their work. There are approximately 20000 brick kilns operational throughout Pakistan where approximately 4.5 million people work to meet their livelihood. Most of them are highly debated . All of the brick kiln owners deny this. They pretend that the workers are free. But if they want to go or work anywhere else they are facing serious troubles. There seems no end in sight of their misery.
A majority of these brick kilns are located in rural areas where they are shielded from society’s eyes far from the reach of laws and inspectors. The workers live in deplorable conditions. The water they use to mix the soil gives them skin diseases and the hazardous fumes from the billowing black smoke during the brick-making process causes asthma and other diseases and increase the risk of contaminated with tuberculosis. There are no proper toilets. Facilities, at the kilns or where the workers live the women have to go in the open, either late night or early morning. “They are harassed. Pictures are taken of them and these women are afterwards exploited,”
“It was common knowledge that the kiln owners cooperate with corrupt police officials often got criminal cases registered against the laborers to keep them under their control,” The workers do not sign any contract when they are taken to a brick kiln. Most of them cannot read, so they have no mean to find out what is be added to their accounts. If they get 500 rupees in advance in case for any emergency like mediation of a kid, 5000 rupees will be taken down for example.
Some of the workers who manage to flee or who are freed are taken back to the kilns by the owners by force. With no inspection of these sites they have no protection and often end up in bad situations conditions upon their return, with a hefty fine added to their existing debt. There have also been cases where an escaped worker’s daughter has been forcibly married off – or sold – as “payment” for the days he had been in hiding for.
There are examples where women with kids and an ailing husband; they have no option but to continue working at the kiln. Sometimes they eat dry bread; sometimes they go to bed hungry. Because the next day they have to go back to work as they have no other choice.
Please help me to free the slaves and feed the children and their inslaved families.
Sincerely
Fiza Muneer
