Good morning, my name is Marta. At this point in my life, I am in serious difficulty. I live with my family in two small wooden bungalows in the countryside. My husband, who is Jamaican, runs a small farm; it is small but very clean and well-maintained.
At the moment, our local council has issued us with a demolition order to be carried out within 90 days. The situation is hopeless; very soon we will find ourselves homeless and my husband, aged 58, will be out of work.
We have decided to move to Jamaica and buy a plot of land, building small bungalows to accommodate tourists.
We don’t want to stay in the city but to settle in the mountains and live there, growing our own fruit and vegetables – a simple life within the Rastafarian culture, so we can enjoy our later years in peace. For this reason, we are asking for help so that we can make a fresh start.
