Help for Joanna – aged 38, mother of two young children, battling a rare form of cancer

Dear friends, dear supporters,

Today we are asking for your help for Joanna, a 38-year-old mother of two wonderful children aged 2 and 8.

Joanna received the devastating diagnosis of a rare and aggressive soft tissue tumour – a synovial sarcoma in the area of her left hip. Since then, she has been fighting the disease with all her might.

The tumour has severely damaged the pelvic bone, leading to a pathological fracture. Joanna is in severe pain and can now only take a few steps. At present, she can only get about on crutches

In addition, metastases have developed in her lungs. Although the lung metastases showed partial regression following several cycles of chemotherapy, a new suspicious lesion has since been detected in her liver. The battle against the disease continues.

Joanna is being treated at Vienna General Hospital (AKH) and is receiving highly specialised oncological treatment. Alongside the medical treatment, there are numerous additional costs: travel to appointments and treatments, medication, medical aids, support with daily life, and caring for her two young children.

Despite all the hardships, Joanna is not giving up. She fights every day for her life, for her family and for her children’s future.
