Description

Hello, I’m Monica.

About ten years ago, I left the city to move to a country house, where I rediscovered the connection with nature I had been seeking for some time. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know and look after the various inhabitants of the woods, always respecting their nature and freedom.

My guests include hedgehogs, porcupines, foxes, magpies, crows and, of course, cats. For many years, the presence of dogs, including large ones, meant that only a few brave cats would venture near, and initially only two of them chose my home as a refuge.

Unfortunately, my dogs are no longer with us, but in the countryside most people have dogs that keep cats at bay; over time, the cats have begun to visit me with increasing frequency, finding a safe place and some food, and consequently giving birth to several kittens, which, sheltered from predators—including humans—have in turn grown into fine adult cats.

I don’t have much money, but I do my best: I provide food, care and neutering.

Please do not suggest that I contact organisations, associations or the local council, as I have already tried countless times without receiving any practical help.

So, the number of cats has grown from just a few to around thirty, and this year many of them have had kittens. Fortunately, I have met a vet who allows me to have them neutered at less than half the cost of many other practitioners. He is a caring and conscientious vet, which is by no means a given.

However, although the funds I have raised are a good start, they are not enough to neuter all twenty cats, both males and females. I now have two urgent needs: neutering and food, especially for the mothers and their kittens who will soon be weaned. For this reason, I will be launching another fundraising campaign and a shopping list so that you can contribute in whatever way you prefer.

You can find and contact me on Facebook, via my account Monica D'Urso or through the page "I Micini di Campagna". This page was created recently with the aim of developing a project for cats, not only for those already here, but also for those in the local area, where unfortunately the authorities do nothing and everything is left in the hands of a few volunteers. My account, on the other hand, has been active for several years and I hope this reassures you that this is not a scam.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO IS WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE, EVEN IF ONLY WITH A LITTLE HELP!
