Two years ago, we decided to go ahead with my daughter’s wedding. It was a good time financially, and I was able to contribute and even cover all the costs. I paid the deposits to the venue, the photographer and the band, but… then unforeseen circumstances arose (a death in the family, and I had to undergo two operations resulting in temporary disability), which led to a drastic reduction in the family budget. The wedding has been rescheduled for this year, but our financial situation hasn’t improved; we can’t cancel it given that the deposits were quite substantial, and we can’t rely on ‘gifts’ from guests, as people tend to avoid such events due to a lack of money.
So here I am, hoping that my request does not cause you any discomfort, asking for your help. I hope with all my heart that we won’t find ourselves desperately searching for money after the wedding to cover the costs.
