We would go and bring the children food, clothes, try to interact, play with them, encourage them, whatever we could afford at the time. Later on, we started to bring a lot of friends and acquaintances to these centres, we tried to get involved and help. Unfortunately, things were not always as we expected, and we realised that there was a certain state of mind among the people working in these children's homes that we could not, by any means, change very much.

I realised that there were a lot of street children, children who had to beg, children who didn't know how to play, who were fighting. I wanted very much to get involved in the lives of these children and that's how 'The Wonder between the Blocks' started. We started gathering these children, buying them toys and playing. I spent a whole summer playing with the children in the blocks. I taught them how to play, how to behave, we started to get to know each other, to interact, to talk about things in life. A summer during which children started to form their thoughts about the future, many of the children had dropped out of school. When September approached, I suggested that we go to the school, talk to the teachers, enrol them, buy them school supplies and start a school year.
