Description
Dear friends, family and all compassionate souls,
On 24 December 2024, on Christmas Eve, the lives of our beloved sister and her seven children changed forever. A serious road accident fractured her fourth thoracic vertebra (T4) and severed her spinal cord. Since that day, our strong sister has been paralysed from the chest down.
After nine long months in hospital, she has finally been discharged. Yet this relief is overshadowed by a new, agonising reality: **she is currently having to recover and receive care in a standard bed**, which makes her situation unbearable. Every movement, every necessary act of care is an enormous strain for her.
She is a single mother of seven wonderful children and lives in Serbia. There she now faces a triple tragedy: her paralysis, the inadequate care situation and a healthcare system that **provides no financial assistance** for the urgently needed aids.
**Unlike in Germany, an electric hospital bed, a wheelchair or barrier-free modifications are not covered by the Serbian health insurance.** To give her back a measure of independence and dignity, we are relying on your help. She urgently needs:
* **An electric hospital bed:** To make daily care easier, enable pain-free repositioning and prevent life-threatening pressure sores.
* **An electric wheelchair:** Her only means of getting around.
* **Accessibility modifications:** The bathroom must be converted into a shower room and the house requires ramps.
**Your donation is not an option – it is her only hope for a life worth living.** Please help us move Sister from her normal bed to a special care bed and eventually into a wheelchair.
**Your donation means more than just money: it means relief, dignity and the chance to be there for her children.**
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and for sharing this urgent appeal.
With warm regards
