Description
Tibor Batyanek lives in Tárnokrét.
A man who, after a long and difficult journey, rebuilt everything with his own two hands.
He used to work abroad and had a good life, but then an illness and the hardships of life changed everything. But he didn’t give up.
He came home.
And he created something that is now much more than just a simple farm.
The Batyanek goat farm is now a real asset.
It was built on animals, hard work, perseverance, early-morning milking, care and a great deal of human struggle.
When I filmed a report with him a year ago, I showcased the small farm he had built with his own hands and the special goat’s cheese that appeals even to those who immediately declare they love goat’s cheese. Tibor gave up everything for this farm and a year ago was full of plans. The shop opened, and he wanted to supply the cheese to schools, as it has healing properties – a benefit of goat’s milk that few people are aware of. Then the pandemics struck. His farm happens to be located in an area under lockdown. He couldn’t sell his produce, couldn’t make cheese, his herd dwindled, and his income dropped to zero. And help failed to materialise. After a while, he had to decide: pay the bills coming in one after another, or feed the animals. He chose the latter.
The debts caught up with him.
Now, even if he could produce 350 kilos of cheese a month and even if customers were coming, looking for and waiting for the cheese, it would be all in vain. On 6 June, due to a tax debt of 2.5 million and associated charges, the bailiff will come and put Tibor Batyanek’s equipment and animals up for auction – the refrigerators, the mixing machine, the milking machine and, yes, the goats too.
And then it will all be over.
There’s no getting back up from there.
This isn’t just a man sitting here waiting for help.
Here, someone is working. Fighting. Building. Starting over.
For Tibor to be able to settle the most urgent debts and save the farm, he would need around 3.5 million forints.
That is why we are launching this fundraising campaign now.
Because we believe there are human stories and values that must not be allowed to be lost.
This is not just the story of a goat farm.
It is the story of a man who has tried to get back on his feet even from the most difficult of situations.
And now he needs help so that he does not lose everything he has built up all over again.
If you can, please support the fundraising campaign.
Every share, every donation counts.
