The cat cafe is hanging on by a thread of hope. It's been almost a year since we've been going downhill, since we've been saying to ourselves "let the summer come and it'll be better". Summer is almost over, and our daily receipts are lower than this winter.

"Why?", some wonder, thinking that here, in fact, is a prosperous business that brings colossal profits. Well, I'd say it's the exact opposite. We are not businessmen, but volunteers who take care of abandoned cats, something that the community should do, but in reality, a few bitter people like us do it, at their own expense, at their own risk, without any help from institutions run by upstarts with astronomical salaries and bank accounts that look like our phone numbers.

Let me tell you why we are so demoralized and exhausted. At the moment we have over 20 cats at the cafe, plus another 10 in isolation, under different treatments, one more expensive than the other. With so many cats, obviously one bag of food is consumed every 2 days maximum, plus another 2-3 bags of litter for litter boxes, plus wet food, etc. Yes, there are indeed people who come and bring us food and sand from time to time, and we thank them very much for that, but the rest of the money must also come from us, because we cannot keep them uneaten. Where does the rest of the money come from? Well, from our pocket.

The math is simple: the monthly fixed expenses strictly related to the cafe are over 25,000 RON. Here we're talking rent, wages, utilities, distributors, taxes, taxes, more taxes, more taxes, you get the idea. Added to this amount are the actual costs related to the cats, i.e. treatments, food, litter, sterilizations, vaccines, deworming and everything else that comes up along the way. And believe me, something else always comes up. The average receipts/day is approximately 600 RON. The rest of the money comes month after month from our pockets, which, let's talk between us, have kind of emptied.

We have big vet debt, plus huge utility debt, and the end seems to be getting closer. 😔

We know, we too would be heartbroken if this wonderful concept had to disappear, but it's been a long time since we've had it. It's up to you, only you can save this place, through a collective mobilization.

Donations of any kind are absolutely vital right now, but not everyone can afford to donate. And your simple presence at the cafe would be enough to keep this place alive. In fact and in law, in the long run, that's the only way La Pisici can function, having customers, right? Yes, we know the place isn't fancy, we know it doesn't look like the cafes in Unirii, but unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about that either for now. Only if we have many customers can we find funds for the renovation, which will certainly not be the case in the very near future.
