My name is Jamila and I am an Italian-Tunisian woman with muscular dystrophy.

Before the disease, my life was like most people's: I went out independently, cultivated my interests, did many activities.

Since I became ill and my condition worsened, I have seen how difficult it is for a person in a wheelchair to participate in active social life.

Despite the wonderful work of the voluntary associations, which provide us with transport, we are limited in our evening and weekend activities due to a lack of suitable transport and available staff, as the associations run at different times of the day.

In order to find a solution to this problem, I came up with the idea of setting up this fundraiser to finance the purchase of a vehicle with a platform cab, suitable for people with motor disabilities.

My dream and that of my friends is to be able to go out independently and return to social life as we did before the disease.

This vehicle would be managed by an association (Oftal); the fact that it would be ready to drive even for us with motor disabilities would solve the constraint of the availability of users outside office hours.

This autonomy would give us the opportunity to feel more integrated with society.
