13 years. A dream. KONA. Hawaii. IRONMAN. 🌺🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

My younger brother Gyuri – or Sutyi, as most of you know him – started doing triathlons whilst still at primary school on his green Bianchi bike, which was a present from our mum. After taking a long break from the sport, he returned to triathlon at the age of 30, and for the past 13 years, his big dream has been to compete in the IRONMAN World Championship held in Kona, Hawaii.

This year, he’s finally made it! He has qualified for the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, after completing what was – probably – one of the toughest races of his life, battling brutal winds and heat.

Now all she has to do is make it to the starting line on 10 October !

As her sister and an official supporter of the Kona project, I’ve taken on a little marketing task – something she would never do herself. Let’s just say she’s much better at risk management and triathlon than at promoting herself.

Kona isn’t exactly cheap, though: the race entry fee, flights, accommodation, bike transport and car hire all add up.

And his biggest sponsor to date – just like in the good old days – is our mum, who has already covered the cost of his flight to Hawaii! A huge thank you to her and to everyone who is already helping Suty on this journey with kit, bike cases, organisation, race nutrition or any other support.
