I’m going to do my best with a fundraising campaign!

I love my grandma and grandad; they’re the only ones I have left from my dad’s side of the family.

My dad (their son) died of cancer at the age of 39 – it was a tough time. At my dad’s funeral, my grandad had a stroke and has been in a wheelchair ever since, relying on help. The entire right side of his body is paralysed. For years, I’ve been doing my best to help out, especially financially. However, I have three children of my own, and well, they cost a fair bit too ;)

To put it simply, I can’t manage on my own anymore. Of course, they do get help, including financial support, but it’s not exactly a fortune. I’d just like to raise some money for both of them so I can make their daily lives easier by having the bedroom converted. They’ve been married for 62 years; the health insurance has, of course, provided a bed, but only a single one, yet the two of them are inseparable and would love to sleep together in one bed again. This is a couple who still hold hands over meals and kiss each other; when they watch TV together, he always holds her hand. In the bathroom, my grandma has to struggle when she wants to give him a shower. And yes, someone comes to help, but only three times a week; she wants to look after him on her own as much as possible. That’s why I’d like to get rid of the bath and put in a walk-in shower. I’m incredibly proud of how she looks after him, which is why I’m asking for help so that the two of them can spend the rest of their lives together and have things a bit easier.
