Three years ago, our dad faced the toughest challenge of his life – cancer. It involved long months of treatment, pain and uncertainty, but also incredible strength and a will to live. Fortunately, thanks to the doctors and his own perseverance, he has now finished his treatment; he only goes for regular check-ups and is trying to get back on his feet again.

However, he lost his job during his illness. His body could no longer cope with the physically demanding nature of his work, so he had to take early retirement. Due to his long-term incapacity, he fell into financial difficulties – the bills he had previously managed to pay began to pile up. I used to help them out myself, but recently that has no longer been possible.

Now a heavy blow has struck – a debt enforcement order for€35,000. If the amount is not paid, our parents risk losing their flat, the home they have worked so hard to build throughout their lives.
