A Mother's Plea: Help Us Keep Our Home ❤️

Sometimes, the hardest words to say are the simplest ones: "I need help."

I never imagined that one day I would be writing my family's story, asking complete strangers to help us hold on to the life we have worked so hard to build.

I never imagined that, despite having a job, working hard, and doing everything I could to provide for my family, I would find myself lying awake at night, terrified of what tomorrow might bring.

But this is where life has brought us.

I am a mother of a beautiful little girl, just 17 months old. Together with my partner, I have always dreamed of giving her something every child deserves: a safe home, a loving family, and a childhood filled with happiness rather than worry.

We have never dreamed of luxury. We have never needed expensive things or a perfect life.

All we have ever wanted is a place to call home, enough money to meet our responsibilities, and the peace of mind that our little girl will be safe.

Today, even those simple things feel frighteningly uncertain.

And while I try to remain strong for my daughter, the truth is that I am struggling more than I ever thought possible.

Our home is falling apart around us

Our apartment is not just a place where we live. It is the home we worked hard to have, the home for which we are still paying a mortgage, and the place where we hoped to raise our daughter.

But instead of being our safe haven, it has become one of our greatest worries.

Our apartment has serious dampness problems throughout the entire property.

This is not just a small patch of moisture on one wall.

The problem affects our living environment, and we urgently need to identify and eliminate its causes before the damage becomes even worse.

The full extent of the situation became painfully clear when we removed an old built-in wardrobe from our bedroom.

Behind it, we discovered severely damp, blackened walls covered with mould.

It was devastating.

Moisture and mould had damaged our furniture, our bed, our mattress, many of our clothes, and other personal belongings we had collected over the years.

So many things that we had worked to buy were suddenly damaged or unusable.

But losing those possessions was not the hardest part.

The hardest part was losing the room where we were supposed to rest, sleep peacefully, and feel safe.

Our bedroom became unsuitable for normal use. We had to remove the damaged furniture, and we simply cannot afford to replace it.

Today, our family sleeps in the living room because we no longer have a usable bedroom.

Even if we could somehow afford a new bed and furniture tomorrow, that would not solve our real problem.

The dampness is present throughout our apartment.

Our home needs proper professional assessment and extensive repairs to address the underlying moisture problems.

And those repairs are far beyond what we can currently afford.

As a mother, what frightens me most is not the damaged furniture or the appearance of our walls.

It is the possible effect these living conditions could have on our health.

Prolonged exposure to dampness and mould can harm people's health, particularly their respiratory health.

Every time I look at my little girl, I think about the home in which she is growing up.

I want her to be able to sleep peacefully.

I want her to play, laugh, explore, and grow up in a healthy environment.

I do not want a bigger home. I do not want a beautiful, expensive home. I just want a healthy home where I do not have to worry about my daughter's well-being.

And it breaks my heart that something so basic has become something we cannot afford to put right.

We hoped our insurance company would help. Instead, we were left with nothing.

When we discovered the extent of the damage, we turned to our insurance company.

We had hoped that our home insurance would provide at least some financial protection and help us cover the cost of the damage.

After all, isn't that one of the reasons people insure their homes?

We trusted that if something unexpected happened, we would not have to face the consequences entirely alone.

But our hopes were shattered.

Our insurance company rejected the entire claim. We received no compensation for the damage.

Not even partial financial assistance to help us repair our home or replace the belongings we had lost.

We were left to face everything ourselves.

The damaged walls. The mould. The unusable bedroom. The ruined furniture and clothes. The uncertainty about how extensive the repairs would need to be.

And on top of it all, the mortgage payments continued.

Imagine paying every month for the home you worked so hard to have, while knowing that you cannot even afford to make that home healthy and safe for your own child.

That is the reality we are living with.

Our 14-year-old car is another problem we can no longer afford to solve

We live in a village in Slovenia, and I work in Ljubljana, the capital city.

I am employed and want to continue working. Being able to get to my job is essential for our family's financial survival.

But for that, I depend on a car that is now 14 years old.

Over time, it has developed numerous faults.

Warning lights constantly appear on the dashboard, alerting me to problems that need attention.

Every warning light brings another wave of worry.

What has broken this time?

How serious is it?

How much will it cost?

What happens if the car stops working altogether?

The painful truth is that we cannot afford the necessary repairs.

Yet I still depend on this car to get to work and to transport my little daughter.

I worry about whether it is safe. I worry about breaking down on the road. I worry about being left without a way to get to work.

And I worry about what would happen to our already fragile finances if I could no longer reliably travel to my job.

I am not dreaming of buying a new car. I am simply hoping to make the car we already own safe and reliable enough to keep our everyday lives going.

It is incredibly difficult to explain the feeling of working hard to support your family while being unable to afford essential repairs to the very car that allows you to earn your living.

We are falling behind on our loans, and I am terrified that we could lose our home

This is the part of our story that frightens me the most.

Despite our efforts to keep up with our responsibilities, our financial situation has reached a critical point.

The unexpected expenses, the damage to our apartment, the repairs we cannot afford, and the constant costs of everyday life have become more than we can manage.

We are behind on our loan repayments.

And because our home is mortgaged, I live with the fear of what could eventually happen if we cannot catch up with our payments.

If the debts remain unpaid and legal enforcement follows, we could ultimately lose our home.

Our home. The place where our little girl is growing up. The place we have worked so hard to keep.

I cannot describe how frightening that thought is.

We are already struggling with the damage caused by dampness and mould.

We do not even have a proper bedroom anymore.

And now I am afraid that if our financial situation continues to deteriorate, we could lose the apartment itself.

Sometimes I look around our home and think about everything we have been through to get here.

Everything we worked for.

All the hopes we had when we imagined raising our daughter here.

And then I think about how easily financial difficulties can threaten everything a family has built.

I am not asking anyone to pay for a luxurious lifestyle. I am asking for a chance to protect the roof over my little girl's head.

We have even received a warning that our electricity could be disconnected

Our difficulties have now reached a point that I never imagined possible.

We have fallen behind on essential household bills.

I have received an official warning that our electricity supply could be disconnected unless the overdue bill is paid within the stated deadline.

When I read that notice, I felt overwhelmed.

Electricity.

Something so basic. Something most people do not even have to think about when they wake up in the morning.

Being able to turn on the lights.

Keep food in the refrigerator.

Cook a meal.

Wash our clothes.

Take care of a small child.

And now even these ordinary things have become another source of fear.

I never thought I would reach a point in my life where I would feel anxious about opening the mailbox.

But I do.

Because every letter might contain another overdue payment.

Another warning.

Another deadline.

Another reminder of something I desperately need to resolve but do not have enough money to pay.

I have a job. I work. I try. And yet I have reached a point where I am afraid of losing essential services in the home where I am raising my daughter.

It is a deeply painful thing to admit.

Then our little girl became ill, and our income fell even further

As if all these difficulties were not already enough, our daughter became ill.

I had to stay home from work for several weeks to care for her.

As a result, my salary was reduced.

At the very moment when we desperately needed every euro, our income became even smaller.

But our financial responsibilities remained.

The mortgage and other loans still had to be paid.

The electricity bills still arrived.

The dampness in our home remained.

The car still needed repairs.

And every month brought more expenses that we were struggling to meet.

I am not mentioning my daughter's illness to ask for sympathy.

I am mentioning it because I want people to understand how quickly an already difficult financial situation can become unbearable when something unexpected happens.

Sometimes, a family does not need one enormous tragedy to fall into financial hardship. Sometimes it is the weight of many difficult circumstances, one after another, until there is simply nothing left to fall back on.

That is what has happened to us.

There is something behind my smile that people do not see

This is perhaps the hardest part for me to share.

Because our problems are no longer just financial.

They have begun to affect me so deeply that I sometimes barely recognise the person I have become.

I cry every day.

I cry because I am afraid.

Because I feel helpless.

Because I spend so much time thinking about unpaid bills, debts, our damaged home, and everything that still needs to be fixed.

I cry because I do not know how we are going to manage the next month.

Because I am frightened of losing our home.

Because I worry about the electricity being disconnected.

Because I worry about whether our car is safe.

And because I worry constantly about what all of this means for my daughter's future.

The anxiety and prolonged stress have become so overwhelming that I am now taking antidepressant medication.

I never imagined that the worries of everyday life could affect me so profoundly.

There are moments when I wish I could simply switch off the fear for a little while.

To sit with my family without worrying about money.

To go to bed without thinking about the next overdue payment.

To wake up in the morning without immediately feeling the weight of everything that needs to be resolved.

But the worries follow me throughout the day.

And what hurts the most is knowing that this is happening during one of the most precious periods of my life.

My daughter is only 17 months old.

She is growing so quickly, discovering new things, learning about the world, and experiencing moments that I know will never come again.

I want to enjoy those moments with her.

I want to smile with her, laugh with her, and be fully present as she grows.

Instead, so many of those beautiful moments are overshadowed by the constant fear of how we are going to survive financially.

My little girl does not understand what a mortgage is.

She does not understand overdue payments, insurance claims, electricity disconnection notices, or the cost of repairing a damaged home.

And she should not have to.

She is just a little girl who deserves to feel loved, protected, and safe.

Sometimes, I hold her close and wish with all my heart that she will never have to carry the kind of worries that are breaking my heart today.

I am trying to stay strong.

I am trying to find solutions.

I am trying to keep our family together and protect everything we have worked for.

But the truth is that I am exhausted.

Not from caring for my daughter.

Not from working.

I am exhausted from being afraid of what tomorrow might bring.

Why I am asking for €10,000

Making this fundraiser public was not an easy decision.

I have always believed in working hard, taking responsibility, and doing everything possible to solve my own problems.

Asking strangers for financial help is something I never thought I would do.

But today, I have to admit that our family cannot overcome all of these difficulties alone.

Our fundraising goal is €10,000.

Any money raised would be used to help us address our most urgent needs:

- Overdue mortgage and other loan payments: to catch up with our financial obligations and reduce the risk of further enforcement proceedings that could eventually threaten our home.

- Urgent electricity and household bills: to prevent disconnection of essential services and settle overdue payments.

- Dampness and mould remediation: to identify the causes of moisture throughout our apartment and begin the necessary repairs to create healthier living conditions.

- Our damaged bedroom and belongings: to gradually restore the bedroom and replace essential furniture and other items damaged by moisture.

- Our 14-year-old car: to pay for professional inspection and necessary repairs so I can continue travelling to work and meeting our family's needs safely.

- Essential expenses in the coming months: to help us regain some financial stability and prevent our situation from immediately deteriorating again.

I know that €10,000 is a significant amount of money.

I also understand that the total cost of all the necessary repairs and accumulated financial obligations may be even higher.

But we have to begin somewhere.

And right now, even taking the first steps towards solving these problems feels beyond our financial reach.

We are not asking for a perfect life. We are asking for a chance to rebuild the stability we have lost.

We do not need a luxurious home.

We need a healthy one.

We do not need an expensive car.

We need safe and reliable transport so I can continue working.

We do not need a life without bills or responsibilities.

We need a chance to catch up on overdue payments and stop living in constant fear of losing what we have worked so hard to build.

And above everything else, I want to give my daughter the safe, peaceful childhood she deserves.

My greatest wish is to look back one day and say, "We made it."

If you have read this far, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to the story of a family you have never met.

I know that everyone has their own responsibilities, struggles, and worries.

I know that many people are facing difficult circumstances of their own.

And I would never want anyone to feel pressured to give more than they can afford.

But if you are able to help us, even with the smallest donation, please know how much it would mean.

To you, it may be a small act of kindness. To us, it could be another step towards protecting our home and finding a way out of this frightening situation.

Every contribution would help us move closer to paying urgent bills, addressing the damage to our home, arranging safe transport, and rebuilding some financial stability.

You may never meet our family.

You may never see our faces.

You may never know what a particular donation helped us pay for.

But please know that behind this page is a real family trying to overcome an incredibly difficult period.

A family that has not stopped trying.

A mother who is doing everything she can.

A little girl who deserves a safe place to grow up.

And a mother who cries from worry every day, but who still holds on to the hope that things can get better.

If I could make one wish, it would not be for money, expensive possessions, or a life without problems.

It would be for a simple, ordinary day.

A day when our home is healthy again.

When I can go to work without worrying about my car breaking down.

When I can open the mailbox without fear.

When our bills are under control.

When I can put my little girl to bed and feel that our family is safe.

And when I can finally fall asleep without the overwhelming fear of what tomorrow will bring.

More than anything, I dream of the day when I can hold my little girl in my arms, look back on everything we have been through, and whisper:

"We made it, sweetheart. We got through it. We are going to be okay."

I hope that one day, the tears I cry now from fear and despair will become tears of relief.

That our home will once again feel like our safe haven.

That I will be able to enjoy motherhood without this constant weight of worry.

And that, as a family, we will finally be able to breathe again.

Thank you for reading our story.

Thank you for your compassion, your understanding, and every act of kindness.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving our family hope that brighter days may still be ahead. ❤️
