Description

Milo is a kitten who is 8 months old, it is estimated that he was born at the end of March 2024.

He was rescued as a baby with his siblings and was in a foster home (FB: Adriana's kittens) for a while. I adopted him at the end of July.

Milo is a very cheerful and affectionate kitten, he loves cuddles, he is very curious and has a great vitality.

A fortnight ago I started to notice that he was swelling suddenly, when I took him to the vet in the ultrasound it was seen that he had a lot of liquid in his abdomen which was the cause of his swelling. A little liquid was extracted from his abdomen and blood was also taken for an analysis.

After the check-up with the vet, Milo's mood was very low, he had very little strength and was staggering when he walked. In addition, although his abdomen was swollen, he was in the bones.

When the test results came back they were terrible and thanks to the help of Adriana (the person who gave him to me for adoption) we were able to confirm that it was a case of wet FIP.

FIP is a deadly viral disease, caused by a mutation of the coronavirus, which is present in most stray cats, only some are mutated and some are not. The causes of this mutation are still unknown, but there is a treatment that is effective and can save your cat's life, but it is expensive. It is not yet approved in Spain, but it is in the UK, and you have to buy the vials directly from the laboratory (www.curefip.com), through their website, and they send them by courier service.

Each vial Milo needs, of 20mg concentration, comes in 8ml and costs €70.80 plus €34.80 shipping costs. The treatment consists of one injection of this medicine per day, for 84 painful days.....

The amount to be injected depends on Milo's weight, so the heavier he is, the less the contents of the vial. At the moment, each vial is enough to inject Milo for 4 days, but as the treatment lasts for three months, and considering Milo's improvement, each vial will be less and less useful as time goes by.

Milo has been on treatment for 10 days now, and the change in him has been huge. He has gone from staggering when walking and not being able to get out of bed to jumping and being able to run. He has also managed to absorb some of the liquid and has gained weight compared to the first few days.

I have two more vials which should cover him for the next eight days.

But it is necessary to complete the 84 days of treatment for it to be effective.

I'm pulling out all my savings to be able to buy more vials, but I will probably fall short of my savings and won't be able to cover the full treatment. That is why I am creating this fundraiser so that I can receive some help.

Thank you very much!
