Description

Workshop introduction: I am a weaver based in a small village in Slavonia, Croatia, near Bizovac. In 2020, I set up the Ethno Tekstil weaving workshop using my own funds, driven by a passion for natural materials and a respect for traditional craftsmanship.

Context and needs: In our village, sheep’s wool has long been regarded as waste. After shearing, farmers would dispose of the fleece, often by throwing it away or burying it. To restore value to this natural resource, I collect this wool, wash it by hand, and card it using a small, handmade carding machine. I then use it to create scarves, rugs, and aprons for local folk groups.

However, the carding process with my small carding machine, which has only two small rollers, is extremely slow. This limits my ability to prepare the wool and reduces the time I can devote to weaving and creating new pieces.

Campaign objective: I am asking for your support to fund the purchase of an industrial carding machine. The amount required for this project is [specify the exact amount]. This budget covers the cost of the carding machine, transport costs, and my training to master the use of this equipment.

The impact of this purchase: Thanks to this industrial carding machine, equipped with several rollers, I will be able to process the wool more quickly and efficiently. This will not only allow me to increase my production whilst improving quality, but also to devote more time to creating new pieces. By promoting wool, a natural and once-neglected material, this initiative will contribute to a more circular and sustainable economy.

Rewards for contributors: In exchange for your support, I am offering various rewards depending on your level of contribution:

For a donation of €50: a skein of natural wool from my workshop.

For a donation of €100: a hand-woven wool scarf.

For a donation of €250: a weaving workshop at my studio (10 hours), where you can learn the basics of weaving.

For a donation of €500: an introductory/advanced weaving course (24 hours)

Conclusion and call to action: Your contribution to this project is essential so that I can continue to promote a natural material and help preserve traditional craftsmanship. Together, we can transform what was once considered waste into a valuable resource for unique handcrafted creations.

Thank you so much for your support and for helping to keep this artisanal heritage alive.
