Description
I'm Alan's mum, Sandra. Alan is my 8-year-old son. To cut a long story short, we were born and grew up healthy until Alan turned 6 years old, when he was in intensive care :( After contracting what seemed to be a common viral infection, Alan developed a high temperature until he finally woke up one morning barely able to stand. Coordination was impaired. We went to the hospital and they found nothing new. Viral infection, maybe he's had a nap, they're giving him an IV drip. Woke up in the morning to a terrible epileptic seizure, a few hours later another one, and Alan was in intensive care. A few days later, he is taken to the Kaunas clinic, intubated and put into a coma, because the seizures do not stop, they happen every 5-10 minutes. After a long struggle and almost a few months in intensive care, we are now in the second year of trying to get back on our feet.
The seizures are now more controlled. But Alan has lost almost everything - speech, perception, body control. That's why we need intensive rehabilitation, both in Lithuania and abroad. We have now set up the Alan Agatanov Support Foundation. We pay for rehabilitation at home and abroad. The amount of rehabilitation for a year is about 24,000 euros. This financial burden is too heavy for all of us, so we are asking those who are able and willing to contribute.
