As of 1 July, I will no longer function as the Chief Policy Advisor of UIRR – after 6000 odd days of service, I will be looking for new challenges.

First and foremost: I am grateful for the opportunity to have served the European Combined Transport Community over close to a third of UIRR’s existence.

Contributions from me during this period include 50 UIRR position papers and 100 InfoLetters, 70 operations, terminal and communications interest group meetings, attendance of 20 general assemblies and 3-4 times as many meetings of the Board of Directors.

Highlights of my 6000 days were

(i) 3 Combined Transport exhibitions in the European Parliament,

(ii) 4 studies on Combined Transport,

(iii) 7 European Intermodal Summit conferences,

(iv) 10 Nordic Seminars, as well as

(v) inventing the CT4EU Campaign. 

These achievements were complemented by 16 annual reports and 64 quarterly newsletters carrying my name as editor, ghost-writing of close to 100 UIRR articles, building-up of UIRR’s presence on Linkedin, and the drafting of countless press releases, presentations and letters to ministers, members of the European Parliament and the leaders of EU institutions, the delivery of speeches and the representation of UIRR in many conferences and one-on-one meetings.

During my years at UIRR European Combined Transport performance doubled and UIRR membership more than tripled.

Since my contract will expire (without any severance payment) in a few weeks' time, and I have yet to secure a new engagement (since I was asked to work for UIRR until the final day of my contract on 30 June), herewith I ask that you provide a contribution to the crowdfunding initiative “Support the Final Send-off for Akos's journey”.
