The Fellegajtó Nyitogatók Foundation was established in 2018 by Gábor Varga – a father whose young son, Táltos, was affected by his condition – with the primary aim of establishing a day care centre for children with severe, multiple disabilities. The Fellegvár Day Centre opened its doors in 2019 in Budapest’s 8th district, and in 2021 we were granted the status of a social care institution. We are currently in our seventh year of operation, caring for nine children with severe conditions who, due to their condition, cannot be integrated into the mainstream education system and whose care has not been accepted by any other state, local authority or private day care centre.

Two years ago, we set out to realise a great dream. We wanted to establish a small residential home for our children with severe, multiple disabilities, so that they may continue to live in a safe, loving environment where they will receive not only care, but also dignity, attention, peace of mind, love and genuine human connection.

Construction is now complete, and the realisation of this dream is just within reach. In order to begin operations, we need to set up a social care provider; to obtain an operating licence, the law requires the Foundation to have a specialised vehicle suitable for transporting wheelchair users.
