Description
We support the Anti-Racism Festival in Agios Nikolaos, Crete.
Because the people are our strength.
The Agios Nikolaos Anti-Racism Festival is now in its fourth year; it began with just a handful of people and has grown into a large community.
Our aim is to raise awareness within the local community – and beyond – about issues of racism in all its forms, racial and gender discrimination, ableism, imperialism and colonialism.
It is a community of people who, often through art but not exclusively, seek to bring to the fore issues that are thorny and torment our communities.
In recent years, we have addressed the ever-topical issue of the genocide in Palestine; we took to the streets in support of hospitals and education, and to protest the state crime at Tempi, and we co-organised the Independent Palestinian Film Festival (PIFF).
The Anti-Racism Festival is organised collectively and independently, without institutional or corporate funding. Each event is made possible thanks to the voluntary work, mutual support and solidarity of our members, who believe in the importance of autonomous social spaces.
Your contribution helps us to:
Ensure the festival’s future events,
Cover basic expenses such as those relating to organisation, transport for attendees and the musical groups who honour us with their presence, sound systems, festival merchandise, etc.
To keep our events accessible and community-based.
With your donation, you are not simply supporting a festival, but a collective cultural practice that persists in defiance of the times and the culture of capitalism.
Every contribution, big or small, helps the Anti-Racist Festival to keep breathing and to continue to exist.
Thank you for standing by our side.
