Brothers in Jail – Striped Skies and Technicolour Stories
a musical comedy in two acts –
an independent production by Sister Mo & the Brothers. Starring Umberto Procopio and Paolo Bergonzi.

Brothers in Jail – Striped Skies and Technicolour Stories is a journey.
A journey that takes place without moving. A journey built on memories, stories and confidences exchanged between two complete strangers who find themselves sharing a cell in Boston’s Suffolk County Prison. Different ages, different social classes, vastly different stories: what binds them together is the search for an unlikely common ground, a meeting point between two distant worlds, between two diametrically opposed life experiences.
With only the voiceover of prison guard Paul for company, our protagonists, the mature Vinnie and the young Bobby, can rely solely on their willingness to open up to one another, on being prepared to reveal a few small yet significant secrets, in an attempt to cement a friendship that a most mocking fate has already set its sights on with greed.
On stage, alongside the two protagonists, Vinnie and Bobby, we find the band Sister Mo & the Brothers, a group of five highly experienced musicians who, playing strictly live, provide those ‘stories in Technicolor’ which are nothing other than a series of evocative references to the world of the most famous film soundtracks, carefully crafted pieces that complete the mosaic of a sweeping story, despite unfolding within the confines of a prison.
The audience will find themselves transported between 1970s Boston and the present day, amidst tales of the underworld, childhood memories, love stories born in a nightclub and destined to be short-lived, big wins at the casino, cyber scams and Italian cuisine. Stories that seem to have stepped out of the screen of countless films, as numerous as the songs that accompany the narrative.
Inevitably, you’ll find yourself growing fond of the two inmates, rooting for two criminals with difficult pasts but huge hearts, ready to deliver a grand finale that will keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
Ours is an independent production, relying on the success of the debut to cover the costs of subsequent performances. The project needs support for the first staging to cover part of the running costs: sound and lighting, set design, costumes and promotional material.
With your help, we will be able to stage a show we have been working on for almost two years now, a little gem of independent theatre, created by a group of semi-professionals who have made music and theatre their life!
