Brothers in Jail - Striped skies and technicolour stories

Brothers in Jail - Striped Sky and Stories in Technicolour is a journey.

A journey that takes place without moving. A journey based on memories, stories and confidences exchanged between two perfect strangers who find themselves sharing a cell in Boston's Suffolk County Jail. Different ages, different social classes, very different histories: what keeps them together is the search for a very unlikely common ground, a meeting point between two distant worlds, between two diametrically opposed experiences.

With only the company of the prison guard Paul's voice-over, our protagonists, the mature Vinnie and the young Bobby, can only count on the will to open up to each other, on being willing to reveal some small big secret, to try to cement a friendship that a mocking destiny has already greedily eyed.

On stage, in addition to the two protagonists, Vinnie and Bobby, we find the band Sister Mo & the Brothers, a group of five highly experienced musicians who, playing strictly live, provide those "technicolour stories" that are nothing more than a series of evocative references to the world of the most famous film soundtracks, well-chiselled pieces that complete the mosaic of a wide-ranging story, despite the fact that it unfolds in the restricted space of a prison.

The viewer will find himself catapulted between 1970s Boston and modern day Boston, amidst stories of the underworld, childhood memories, love stories born in a nightclub and destined not to last, big hits at the Casino, computer scams and Italian cuisine. Stories that seem to come straight out of many films, as many as the songs that accompany the tale.

Inevitably, one will find oneself growing fond of the two convicts, rooting for two criminals with a difficult past but an immense heart, ready to deliver a grand finale that will keep everyone in suspense.

Ours is an independent production, which bases its economic availability on the good result of the debut, in order to cover the expenses for subsequent performances. The project needs support for the first staging, to cover part of the living expenses: sound and lighting service, set design, costumes, promotional material.

With your help, we will be able to stage a show we have been working on for almost 2 years now, a little gem of independent theatre, created by a group of semi-professionals who have made music and theatre their life!
