Application for Financial Support for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)

My name is Konstantina Vavasi and I am writing with sincerity and transparency to anyone who is able and willing to support our family’s efforts to save my mother’s life.

My mother suffers from severe aortic valve stenosis. This is a degenerative heart condition that causes reduced blood flow from the heart to the rest of the body and can lead to fainting spells, shortness of breath, angina and, in advanced stages, heart failure or even sudden death.

According to the opinion of the interventional cardiologist and the medical team monitoring her, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI) is indicated. This method is non-invasive, does not require open-heart surgery, and is suitable for patients at high surgical risk, such as my mother, due to her age and associated health problems.

The cost of the procedure (medical supplies, valve, hospitalisation, use of the cardiac catheterisation laboratory) exceeds €20,000 and, unfortunately, is not fully covered by EOPYY or public hospitals, but only partially. We have already approached public healthcare providers, but the waiting time is very long and her health is deteriorating daily.

For this reason, we are seeking support from individuals and organisations, with the aim of raising the necessary funds so that we can proceed immediately with the operation at a specialist centre.
