My father has been diagnosed with severe dementia, and he has been granted a 1st-degree disability. His daily life requires constant supervision, care, and a calm environment to reduce anxiety and disorientation. Professional care and necessary services cost around €1,500 per month, and unfortunately, I can no longer cover these expenses on my own.

There are days when he experiences severe episodes — he becomes confused, scared, and unable to understand what is happening around him. The hardest moments are when he does not recognize his children. Sometimes he recognizes us, but moments later, he doesn’t… This is emotionally very difficult for both him and our family.

It’s important to note that this amount — €1,500 — covers only the care and does not include medications, which the family has to buy separately, adding additional monthly costs.

Moreover, the quality of care is unfortunately not what we would hope for — he is not taken for walks, movement is not encouraged, and walking is not stimulated, which further affects his health and well-being. Ensuring him a better, dignified daily life is very important to us.
