Samuel, our 8-year-old son, has a severe form of autism and does not speak. Samuel finds it very difficult that he cannot speak and hardly communicates at all; as a result, he experiences a great deal of frustration, which triggers painful fits of screaming and crying every day.

Raising an autistic, non-verbal child is expensive, and looking after Samuel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whilst my wife works part-time, is pushing us to the limits of our financial means.

We never lost hope and decided to use all our savings, as recommended by the experts, to pay for Samuel’s first stem cell treatment. The results were nothing short of miraculous: he regained eye contact, the world around him began to fascinate him, and he started repeating his very first words.

According to the experts, Sami has enormous potential for developing his language skills. For this dream to come true, Samuel needs to undergo another course of stem cell treatment, which we have paid for ourselves without any support.

However, as an average family already burdened by debt from the first and second treatments, it is impossible for us to raise a further €2,500 from our own resources for further therapy. Our only dream is to give our son the chance to break his silence and one day say: ‘Mum, Dad, I love you.’
