Description
A place of hope for street dogs - sustainable rehabilitation through love and care
We (Tanja aka "Gretchen Mueller" & Dennis) have been travelling the streets of Northern Cyprus every day for more than 3 years now, caring with love and passion for the mute children of God living there. To date, we have spent over €80,000 of our own money to treat injured dogs and neuter them in order to curb the population. However, it is nowhere near enough to provide all the animals with food, houses, water and blankets as well as medical help.
That is why we are asking for your support, because even a small amount can mean several days of food for a fosterling!
That's why we need your help!
For the last 14 months we have been working daily in a small communal animal shelter which also focuses on neutering and rehabilitating animals. Of course, this is also done on a voluntary basis.
We need a safer and more loving solution to help the animals. The roads are too much of a risk. There are always accidents with vehicles or mistreatment/poisoning.
"You know, it tears you up inside when you find a dog that you have cared for and fed every day for months, given love to, one day run over on the road and have to bury it yourself."
We must not allow this to happen!
We want to use the donations to set up an animal care and welfare centre that offers injured and sick animals the best possible protection and enables them to lead a life appropriate to their species. A place of love, care and rehabilitation. We work together with local vets from the veterinary association, who support us with the formalities and create the conditions to be able to help the animals in the best possible way.
To do this, we need a plot of land and the appropriate equipment such as accommodation, treatment rooms, administration building, quarantine centre and infrastructure.
Our aim is also to sensitise the population to dealing with dogs on the street and to facilitate adoptions locally and abroad, because every living creature deserves love and a home. We will work with specially trained dog trainers to ensure this.
In 10 years, we want to reduce the birth rate of street dogs to 0. But we can only do this with your help. We want to set up a facility where injured animals can be cared for, neutered, rehabilitated, given a home, trained and put up for adoption. We also want to give old dogs a wonderful retirement.
We know we can't save them all, but our heart says let there be as many as possible.
Giving up is never an option!
Let's create a better world and a better place together!
Thank you
