We can all sense the winds of change, and we look forward with hope to the formation of the new government. I, too, believe that a fairer era is dawning. However, I have a serious problem: the sins of the old regime weigh heavily upon my shoulders, and my time is running out.

Whilst the country is building its future, I stand on the brink of the abyss as a victim of the cynicism of the old, failed regime. I took out a personal loan of 60 million forints to build a nursery in a disadvantaged rural area, trusting in the government’s previous promises. The project was completed, the children moved in, but after my money and my work had been exploited to draw down EU funds, the old leadership simply betrayed and fleeced me.

The head of the old system is now fleeing from responsibility, leaving behind all those he has ruined.

I know that it will take time for the new government to get established, and they have a huge amount of work to do. But the debt collector won’t wait for the ministries to be formed. My family and my livelihood are now at risk.

Why is your support important right now?

This fundraising campaign is a bridge between the past and the future. It is about this:

• We will not let the sins of the past consume the present: whilst those responsible are leaving, we, as civilians, are joining forces toensure that an honest Hungarian entrepreneur is not crushed by the debt trap left behind.
• Solidarity during the transition: While the state machinery restarts and justice begins to be served, we must become a safety net for one another.
• Defending integrity: We will show that the community will not leave those who have dedicated their lives to creating value (building a nursery) to be buried under the rubble.
