Description
My name isEmese Rusznák. I go about my daily life ‘on four wheels’, that is, in a wheelchair.
I am a writer, blogger and social activist, the author of the book and audiobook *Mesi-mesék – Avagy legkedvesebb firkáim* (Mesi Tales – Or My Favourite Scrib bles ), and the owner of the website https://www.emese-e-mesei.hu/.
Due to my condition, I need help with activities that may seem trivial to others, such as getting up, going to bed, getting dressed, washing, eating and drinking, or getting around.
Now, however – for the first time in my life – I have had the opportunity to move into my own flat.
With this, I can begin to create a living space and lifestyle in which – within the limits of my abilities – I can decide when and how I spend my days. One where, instead of relying on the (amazing, but understandably diminishing with time) capacity of my family and friends, I can primarily rely on the armrests of my car :) and the time and strength of paid personal carers. This is where I would like to ask for help.
My aim is to establish a way of life in which I rely as little as possible on my family for my daily activities, whilst still being able to live according to my own needs. To achieve this – alongside help from family and friends – the employment of paid personal carers is essential.
The monthly cost of this is roughly 500,000 HUF, which, together with the other foreseeable and unforeseeable expenses of my independent life, I certainly cannot cover from a single source. That is why I am seeking supporters: on the one hand, to ensure the secure financing of my daily life, and on the other, to realise my long-term ‘social goals’ – which I hope will also be of benefit to others.
I would like to build a stable circle of supporters that will last in the long term. It is important to me that no one feels burdened by this. So, as well as joining as soon as possible – which I naturally continue to encourage you to do :) – I’d also ask you to think with me about who those few dozen people might be who’d be happy to join this “elite club”.
People for whom a monthly contribution of any amount (typically 5–10 thousand forints) isn’t a significant burden, but provides sustainable support in the long term. Aren’t these good questions? I think so too :)
One of the simplest – and hopefully most rewarding for both of us – ways to support me is to buy my book based on the information on the website.
Thank you very much in advance for sharing, thinking about it, clicking –
and even more so for possibly joining the ‘club’!
