My name is Ľubomír Rebro, I am 43 years old and have been involved in gliding, on and off, since I was fourteen. Through this campaign, I am trying to raise money to develop gliding at the Dubnica Flying Club, Slávnica Airport, as this sport is neither funded nor subsidised by the state. People involved in this sport usually have to pay for everything out of their own pockets. 

The current situation in our country is what it is; we cannot rely on any support from the state, because, as we know, there is no extra money in the budget for a sport that is, unfortunately, not very attractive or promoted, such as gliding. With the money raised by this campaign, we will help the non-profit organisation Dubnica Flying Club with the maintenance and possibly the renewal of its aircraft fleet, young people interested in flying, and to provide leisure activities for young people who don’t want to sit at home twiddling their thumbs and are keen to get involved in something meaningful. 

If the campaign is successful and some funds are raised, even if not the full target amount, it will be used, as I have already mentioned, for the maintenance of gliders, which costs a considerable amount of money, but the priority would be the purchase of a tow plane. The price of such an aircraft ranges from thirty thousand euros upwards; it is similar to a car – the higher the price, the better the equipment, the more powerful the engine and, consequently, the greater the utility. I firmly believe that we can support a good cause and that we will succeed in raising sufficient funds to purchase a tow plane or to maintain the aircraft fleet at our flying club.
