Impractical Cats
Impractical Cats
What will you fundraise for today?
Description
This fundraiser is for Impractical Cats: a squad of (currently) 13 +1 rescue cats in Spain.
Their stories
There are a LOT of stories. For more, follow @Impractical Cats on Instagram.
Of the lucky 13, Johnny, Sunny, Fergus and Tortuga are four related adults rescued from a neighbourhood where a queen had been left to breed year after year, with enough scraps of food from her "owner" to keep her and some of the kittens alive.
Sunny was a pregnant teen when we encountered her; Dijon is the survivor of her first and only litter.
Sombra and Spectre, Siamese twins in all senses, were brought to us by their feral mama for weaning. They are the only survivors -- their siblings died of illnesses before we could intervene, and their mama died from acute kidney failure.
Maggie was an abandoned pet who showed up with a collar, a badly healed broken leg and a determination not to be left behind again.
Leopold was dumped as a kitten and we rescued him, with his brother, some months later. His brother, Achilles, was terminally ill.
Hector, Hestia and Hermes are siblings I first saw running across a busy road to dumpster dive. After rescuing them, I TNR'd their mama to ensure they will never have half-siblings in a precarious situation.
Jagger is the most recent arrival. He started showing up for food and, after a few months, I trapped, neutered and vaxxed him. Despite his initial outrage, he's made a place for himself here. He won't let humans touch him, but he never misses a meal and has found a spot under the ivy where he sleeps on hot afternoons.
The senior Impractical Cat is Teddy, who my husband and I adopted six years ago. He is the offspring of a feral tom and a neighbour's cat that "never got out". He survives his brother, Romeo, and his big sister, Isis, who were the original trio before things got Impractical.
The funds
Your generosity helps defray the following costs:
-100-120 Euros a month for external parasite treatment
-80E every 4-6 weeks for deworming
-50E month for hypoallergenic food for Dijon, Spectre and Teddy, who have food sensitivities
-150E a month for good-quality cat kibble
-75-105E per cat per year for vaccinations
Any extra funds will be used to TNR local ferals, of which there are many.
