Old Believers are Orthodox Christians who did not accept the church reform of Patriarch Nikon and Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. Members of our Church do not recognize Patriarch Nikon's liturgical reforms of 1652-1656, which made the rites of the Russian Orthodox Church similar to Greek ones. Any change in our church, according to the provisions of the seven Ecumenical Councils, is treated as heresy and renunciation of the only true faith. Members of our church: the Old Orthodox Church of the Old Believers settled in Poland around the first half of the 18th century. Our community found shelter in Poland, escaping the persecution of Patriarch Nikon. In order to protect the old canons of the Orthodox faith, the Old Believers fled from Russia to various corners of the world. such towns as: Gabowe Grądy, Bór, Augustów, Suwałki, Wodziłki and in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in the town of Wojnowo. In addition, many members of our Church are scattered throughout the Republic of Poland in various places. The Old Orthodox Church of the Old Believers practices its faith in the newly built Church. Services, sacraments, religious practice are conducted under the guidance of the Spiritual Father. Masses are celebrated according to the Julian calendar.
