Description
My name is Réka Viktória G. Nagy. I am a singer, musician, behavioural analyst (BA in Psychology), and a teacher of my own method: a teacher of free singing and a passionate advocate of Hungarian tradition.
I would like to share with you the most difficult period of my life, which began with a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer.
I underwent 16 sessions of intravenous chemotherapy, followed by successful surgery, then 19 sessions of radiotherapy, and six months of oral chemotherapy – something I hadn’t anticipated – which presented a further challenge for me, both physically and mentally.
I received immunotherapy for a year, which led to an adrenal crisis as a side effect; this remains a constant, potentially life-threatening condition to this day. It affects my daily life, causing nausea and near-fainting spells. It is unpredictable.
By mustering all my strength, I managed to work through these months until December, but unfortunately I have been unable to work since January because I found myself in a life-threatening condition due to a rare side effect. I am grateful that I survived and can continue to fight for my life.
In the meantime, life has taken a turn such that I have lost the professional career I built up over many years, as my relationship at the time came to an end and we were working together.
My life is all about ‘Sound Therapy’ – the healing power of singing and music, and teaching and promoting folk songs.
It’s about daring to sing, because singing heals.
In schools, nurseries, to teachers, at festivals and in theatres, I share the secret of singing with people of all ages – the joy that comes from letting our souls speak freely.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to work at all since February.
Every contribution is a huge help towards my full recovery.
This support not only helps me regain my health, but also enables me to continue teaching folk songs, both online and through publications. Afterwards, I will work to give back what I have received to those who need it.
In addition, on my TikTok page and through millions of private messages, I help my fellow patients with my informative and motivational videos. I have already accompanied some of them to their first examinations and chemotherapy sessions.
I never thought I’d create a page like this, but life has its surprises, and unfortunately not all of them are great.
Many people have asked how they can help, but so far I’ve only accepted hugs, kind words, prayers and encouragement.
Every contribution is a huge help in making my journey to recovery calmer and less stressful, and in making my daily life easier.
I wish everyone all the best and GOOD HEALTH!
Thank you so much!
Réka ❤️
