Description
Hi everyone!
My little boy, Diaz, was born with Pierre-Robin syndrome. This involves a small jaw, a tongue that falls back, and a cleft palate.
Because his tongue was set back, it blocked his airway, making it difficult for him to breathe. After falling ill, we ended up in hospital for two months when his breathing difficulties became severe. We were in hospital for a month, and his condition kept getting worse. He needed life-saving surgery. He had a tracheostomy fitted, through which he could breathe. He underwent many, many operations over three years, and is now approaching his fourth year.
In May 2025, he had tracheal surgery, during which three pieces of cartilage had to be removed because his trachea had collapsed and was blocking his airway. The tracheostomy tube was also removed during the operation. He was under general anaesthesia for seven days.
He has made a successful recovery and is now learning to speak. His voice isn’t quite right yet, but it is starting to come back. The fundraising is for his dreams. We want to be able to give him everything he desires – I’m thinking of developmental aids, toys, special experiences, and so much more that he would love – and to be able to tell him that so many wonderful people are supporting him.
I am so grateful if you can help, even with a small amount. 🙏🔥
