Classic Car Meets Modern Tools – 3D for the MGF

Classic Car Meets Modern Tools – 3D for the MGF

Description

Many small plastic parts in my MGF are either damaged or completely missing — and getting replacements in Poland is nearly impossible. Things like mirror screw covers, door card clips, or interior trim pieces just aren’t available locally.

Ordering them from the UK is expensive — often the shipping costs more than the part itself.

So I searched various 3D model sites and found a surprising number of ready-to-print parts specifically for the MGF. With a 3D printer, I could produce these components myself — faster, cheaper, and with a real sense of satisfaction.

But that’s not all. I also plan to:

-print a custom front lip, inspired by the MGF Trophy,

-design and print improved intake components, since my current setup could really use some attention (and better airflow while we’re at it).

What I’ve got:

-experience with 3D printing — I’ve done it before, I know what I’m doing,

-a list of ready-to-go MGF-compatible models,

-a car project that gives me plenty of excuses to put this printer to good use.

What I need:

-a used 3D printer – approx. 60€

-a spool of PETG filament – approx. 10€

Goal: €70

With this printer, I’ll be able to do far more than just replace broken clips — it’ll become a proper tool to help me develop the MGF the way I want to: smart, personal, and not dependent on rare parts from abroad.
