Christmas Fundraiser for the Mercy House in Albania

This fundraising aimed to gather funds for SSVM Sisters in Albania. This year I had a pleasure to participate as a volunteer at the mercy house "Shen Luigij Orjone" in Fushë-Krujë near Tirana, the capital. This experience had not only a profound impact on those in need but also on me in many ways. Knowing in what difficult situation the Sisters are, I created this fundraising event to help the Sisters continue their works of mercy.

The Sisters provide daily assistance, dignity, safe home and a spiritual support to the women whose lives require particular gift of love as most of them are severely handicapped both physically and psychologically. They also have centre for children and babies nearby. The Sisters take care of a building which is the size of a large family house, however they need bother themselves with brooms, brushes, and cloths to keep the complex neat and clean. Moreover, the Sisters do not have their own source of income and they depend on people's help and, as they often underline, God's providence.

Albania is a very poor country by European standards and the government does little to help those in need. Since I observed the struggles the Sisters face by myself, as a Christmas gift, we hope to purchase a vacuum cleaner "Karcher", which is a well known provider of reliable, resilient industrial house-cleaning tools. Such vacuum cleaner would be ideal for the surroundings in which the Sisters operate. Such thing is, however, not cheap as it costs around 20,000 LEK or around 200 EUR in Albania.
